The evaluation will be conducted in two steps

STEP 1 
Based on Frontiers’ advanced article-level and author-level impact metrics, and Altmetric scores as well as taking into account international reach, subject novelty and coverage, interdisciplinary character, and academic excellence, a list of ten exceptional Research Topics will be shortlisted. 

STEP 2 
A jury drawn from Frontiers’ Editorial Boards will proceed to choose a winning Research Topic from the shortlist, judging on international reach, subject novelty and coverage, interdisciplinary character, and academic excellence.
